As of April 1, 2026 a new updated wind mitigation form will be a requirement for homeowner’s insurance. The previous form was published in 2012. The owners of True Home Inspections and their licensed inspectors have taken the course on the new form. We are certified and fully prepared to inspect and fill out the new form accurately. We have created some helpful documents to help our agents and homeowners better understand how we identify and mark the different mitigation features of the home. In addition, we have included a helpful link to Simpson StrongTie, the leading manufacturer in roof to wall connectors. In that link you will find different products used in retrofitting and new construction. Sometimes, the wrong product is used for the construction type such as wood frame as opposed to concrete block or installed incorrectly per the manufacturers instructions.
